Our visit began with a fantastic guard of honour, with students proudly representing their diverse nationalities through jerseys, cultural attire, and languages. The school was filled with visible signs of welcome and the students were confident, eloquent, and excited to share their experiences.
Throughout the day, we heard inspiring stories about the school’s journey as a School of Sanctuary. While the school has faced challenges, the whole community has worked hard to make CBS James’s Street a caring and inclusive space where everyone belongs. Kindness, respect, and support for one another are at the heart of everything they do.
We were treated to beautiful performances, including Colours of the Wind and a song composed by a student for International Women’s Day. During the tour, we saw so many wonderful examples of how the school celebrates diversity and inclusion: multilingual welcomes, international flags, kindness initiatives, creative projects, a rich library reflecting cultures from around the world, interactive technology projects, and vibrant celebrations like Multicultural Day.

Congratulations to everyone at CBS James’s Street — students, staff, and families — for creating such a welcoming, nurturing, and inspiring environment, where kindness is always the main message! 🌟
